CNN commentator Keith Boykin shared a video on Wednesday showing President Trump, who is considered to be a hero by many American evangelical Christians, standing in complete silence as the former presidents seated near him read off the Apostles’ Creed at former President George H.W. Bush’s funeral.
In addition to former Presidents Barack Obama, Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter, Vice President Mike Pence, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, former Vice President Al Gore, and former Vice President can also be seen in the short video reading from the text of the prayer during the service.
“This is your ‘Christian’ evangelical president,” Boykin wrote in the tweet sharing the video.

CBS News Correspondent Vladimir Duthiers also took notice of the “curious moment”:
Curious moment here as all of the former Presidents and First Ladies read and recite the Apostles’ Creed – President Trump & the current First Lady do not. #GeorgeHWBushFuneral pic.twitter.com/fTqNkS4fDe

Mediaite columnist John Ziegler tweeted: “It’s SO weird that Barack Obama (the “Muslim”) knew all the words to the Apostles’ Creed, and Donald Trump (the Evangelical hero) didn’t know any of them, and didn’t even bother to read them. ”

Trump has previously attacked former President Obama as the founder of ISIS, claimed that he is sympathetic to radical Islamist terrorists and peddled the debunked conspiracy theory that he was not born in the United States.
“There’s something going on,” Trump intoned about Obama in a June 2017 interview on Fox News. “You know, people cannot believe that President Obama is acting the way he acts and can’t even mention the words radical Islamic terrorism. There’s something going on — it’s inconceivable. There’s something going on.”
“ISIS is honoring President Obama. He’s the founder of ISIS. He’s the founder of ISIS. He’s the founder. He founded ISIS,” Trump said at an August 10, 2016, campaign rally.
“I want him to show his birth certificate. … There’s something on that birth certificate that he doesn’t like,” Trump said on “The View” on March 23, 2011.
“An ‘extremely credible source’ has called my office and told me that @BarackObama’s birth certificate is a fraud,” he tweeted on August 6, 2012.
